The Town of Collinsville
employs full-time and part-time workers for maintenance of its buildings,
streets and parks, and for solid waste collection.
Currently, in addition to everyday
operations, workers of the Street Department are replacing the sidewalks
in the downtown area. The work included in the sidewalk project is
scheduled to proceed on a block-to-block basic as scheduling and fiscal
considerations permit.
While most of the work is comprised of
demolition of the existing walks and replacement with new concrete, the
project also includes installation of new 'reproduction' Victorian-style
lampposts, re-locating the existing overhead electric utility lines, and
repairs to the existing storm drain facilities in the area. Some
repair to the surface of Main Street and placement of trees and scrubs is
also included in the final phase of the project.
Your continued patience and tolerance
of any inconvenience created by our renovation effort is greatly
appreciated and will be rewarded by a more pedestrian friendly and
attractive Main Street.
