Renovation of the G. W. Roberts building for the future home of the Collinsville Public Library is a project that began as an impossible dream conceived in the minds of some friends of the library in early 2001.  The project began to take shape when the Town Council gave approval in November 2001.  Local fundraising efforts, including a rally at Collinsville School, Collinsville Quilt Walk, May Arts Festival, Spring Plant Sale, March Madness Book Sale, Mile of Pennies, memorials, and individual donations coupled with funds from grants and appropriations have brought us through phase one of the renovation ~ the contract was signed in August 2004.

The project is located on Main Street in downtown Collinsville.  Phase one included the clean up and stabilization of a historic building once slated for demolition.  Once it was stabilized new doors and windows were installed and the painting really made it shine!  We were excited to see all of the work
that was talking place.......................

.....And then, one day
the lettering was done!

We have recently received a new grant and work on the inside of the library should start
this summer.  Library Board Members Bonnie Payne and Myles Smith went to Montgomery
and brought back donated shelving and computer desks.  Thanks to all the efforts of so
many of Collinsville's citizens the dream of a new library will soon be realized.
